Portland Pen Show, Portland, July 11 to 13 2008

The Portland Pen Show is set to be an exciting event for pen collectors and those who are in the pen business. Guests from all over the world will be coming to see the wide range of pen manufacturers who will be exhibiting at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Portland.

Exhibitors will be setting up on the 11th during the day, ready for the opening event in the evening. This will be the perfect time to meet others who also love the craft of pen making and the joy of owning a beautiful collection of pens. Saturday is the main start of the Portland Pen Show, you will have plenty of time to see the inner workings of how this industry operates, and get tips and advice on improving your own pen collections.

One of the highlights of this pen show is that there are regular seminars throughout the two weekend days that the show is on. These range from seminars by eminent pen collectors, showing off their own pens but also sharing the knowledge they have built up over the years, through to expert tips on how to repair and maintain your precious pen collections. You will also be able to learn more about new ways to use your pens, by learning the art of italic writing – much more than just stylish writing.

A not-to-be-missed seminar closing the weekend is a section on the art of the nib. Though it is only a small part of the pen, choosing the right nib can radically change the way you write. Essential.

Add to this the evening events and the Portland Pen Show is complete. The evenings include live jazz music to wile away the end of the day in the company of other avid pen lovers. You can swap tips, admire some of the luxury and unique pens that others will have with them, and generally become closer to the art world of writing.
